Rumi 01. This seaview retrait in Knokke-Heist is their first endeavour into hospitality. As they described: Discover places where something shifts. Where light, texture, scent, and sound gently awaken your senses. Where the view becomes a canvas in motion. And small moments can turn into lasting memories. Thoughtfully designed and warmly hosted.'

In the design concept, the main guiding principle was transparency. We wanted to create an experience where every space feels connected to the sea. From the master bedroom, you can catch a glimpse of the ocean through the entire apartment. Even the bathtub was positioned to enjoy those same views. The glass partition wall between the kitchen and the bathroom — featuring a subtle, boat-like cut-out — adds a playful touch to these sightlines.

It sleeps up to 6 guests, with a maximum of 4 adults, and invites you to enjoy moments with loved ones as well as alone. We created a warm setting where texture and materiality play a central role. For example, the flooring was done in a thoughtfully chosen material called Terrafloor: a blend of natural gypsum and lime, applied as a plaster directly onto the floor. The finish isn’t smooth, but rather softly undulating, with the texture of the aggregates subtly perceptible to the touch.
