Amerika

Project Amerika. Nestled on the first floor of a period townhouse along one of Antwerp’s greenest streets, Amerika is a thoughtful renovation of a kitchen, adjacent dining area, and living room. The transformation focused on creating a more open, functional, and light-filled space—on a compact footprint of just 49 square meters—with a strong connection to both the interior and the surrounding greenery.

We re-oriented the kitchen layout to enhance flow and maximize storage, while also opening up sightlines to allow for cooking with a view. The design centers around a rich mix of materials: soft grey tones are paired with warm oak cabinetry, contrasted by a bold, dark blue floor. This balance of cool and warm elements brings a calm yet characterful atmosphere to the space.

The warmth of the oak returns in the upholstery of the bespoke dining bench and custom sofa, creating a cohesive visual thread throughout. A distinctive round window acts as both a design feature and a source of natural light, softly illuminating the staircase beyond.
